Evori’s foundation was laid in 1990 when I began my training at a clothing factory, where I was meticulously schooled in pattern making and the construction of custom-made uniforms under the tutelage of a seasoned Dutch artisan. This European influence instilled in me a commitment to precision and an unwavering focus on quality. Collaborating closely with German colleagues further refined my approach, leaving a lasting imprint on my work ethos.

My passion for expanding my horizons led me to the Elizabeth Gallaway Academy of Fashion in 2001, where I immersed myself in the nuances of fashion design. My dedication and unique vision culminated in my collections being selected for the prestigious Cape Town Fashion Week, marking a significant milestone in my career.

Since then, I have specialized in crafting bespoke matric farewell dresses, with my journey into bridal wear beginning in 2005. Each gown I create is a testament to my enduring dedication to elegance and craftsmanship.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

I often describe fashion design as one of the most intricate forms of art. Unlike static artworks displayed on gallery walls, fashion is dynamic, sculpted for a living canvas. Each piece must not only look visually stunning but also fit comfortably, accommodating the unique contours and motions of its wearer. This introduces a level of complexity where no two bodies or postures are identical, making each design a technical challenge.

The fabrics I choose play a crucial role; they are not inert like wood or clay but are full of life and movement. They interact with gravity, each fold and flow adding layers of complexity to the design process. This relationship between the material and its drape is fundamental, as it influences how the garment interacts with the wearer and the space around them.

For me, fashion is profoundly connected to the experiences it enables. The right dress can shape how you feel about an entire day, becoming a cherished memory. My design philosophy focuses on highlighting the most beautiful aspects of those who wear my designs, enhancing them to shine brightly while subtly downplaying any imperfections.

Collaboration with my clients is key—I view each garment as a co-creation, evolving through our shared vision. This process is not about imposing my ideas but rather about listening intently and adapting to bring each client’s dream outfit to life, blending their vision with tangible artistry.

I painstakingly mold and fit each garment, akin to a sculptor, ensuring that it fits perfectly, like a second skin. My ultimate goal is for every piece to be a true reflection of the wearer’s personality and dreams, tailored flawlessly to their form.
